Sponsored by the Yellowknives Tribe
(attendance: 84 dads and their daughters; tribes participating: all)

September's Nation Event was our first annual Father and Daughter Dance, sponsored by the Yellowknives tribe, and held in the main hall of the Catholic Church off University Drive in Parkland.

Everyone had a great time and the plan will be for this to become an annual event. Special thanks to Don Potter (and several of the Yellowknives' spouses) for making everything work out so well.

Todd making everyone else look like they're standing still

The event was very well attended, with some 84 dads bringing one (or two or three) daughters out for a formal dinner and dance.

Half-way through the Hokey-Pokey

The girls enjoyed getting specially attired for the event, with evening gowns, corsages, and substantial hair styling in evidence. The dads, for their part, also showed they can clean up well when the occaision arises.

And then there were cupcakes...

The evening's activities included dad and daughter photographs, an Italian buffet, a raffle, and a DJ with a good repertoire of danceable music. Thanks to the older Yellowknive girls for setting the dance standard.

While all of the girls enjoyed dancing, many were suprised to learn that their fathers knew how to do more than just the Macarena, the Hokey-Pokey, and the Funky Chicken Dance.

(Though most of us dads were not up to the intricacies of the Ketchup Dance).
